Margaret Torrance - Tweed shopping Bag Workshop
A great evening and many members have subsequently made bags using denim as well as tweed. Always good to see the results after a workshop.

HATHAWAY QUILTERS SHOW @ The Rosebird Centre in S-o-A
We welcomed over 150 visitors to our show which had free entry.
There were a lot of enquiries about our Group and many compliments. The Sales Table was a huge success and the refreshments and cakes very popular.

Dawn Cameron Dick - Needles and Threads a Love Story
Dawn made us fall in love with needles and threads. So much so that many of our members went home and did a tidy up of their needles and
threads. A talk packed full of lots of useful information with seriously good feedback from many of our members.

Summer Social Evening @ Sarah’s
A fun evening with good food, lots of chat and the game ‘Hunt the Object’ where Sarah had hidden lots of sewing related items which members had to find. Good fun - thank you for hosting Sarah.

Show & Tell - Festival Goodies
Members brought along items which they had purchased at the
Festival of Quilts exhibition held at the NEC (11th - 14th August).
We all repeatedly say we don’t need anything but it is surprising what we come home with!

Excellent demonstration with some useful tips for foundation paper piecing.

Hathaway - Saturday Sew Day
Workshop to do the Christmas Star or Tree shown on Wednesday. Some did their own thing but it was a fun day even though only a few came along. We also had our lunch in the Church Hall so a good day to have our Saturday Sew Days!!!

Anne Moore Talk - How Did I Get Here?
Anne gave us a really interesting talk about her journey to becoming a textile artist. She brought along many samples of her work together with some of her journals. A good evening - again!

Member Led Evening - Strippy Blocks
What a fun evening - lots of laughter and chat as we vied for the sewing machine to sew our strip. We had five machines available and we cut strips, sewed them, cut more and sewed more. A really great evening.
Do check out our website for photographs. Sheila Jones brough along a healthy brownie recipe which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The blocks will be stitched together and donated to “Mobility” to raffle in order for them to purchase an item of use within their unit.

Sit & Sew - Show & Tell - Quilt Surgery
Bring along a project that you need help with as well as what you want to “sit and sew”.
Lots of things were discussed this evening - accurate quarter inch seams, binding, needle turn applique, This was an evening to share tips and solutions with the group.

Wendi Bowron-Weller - “Textiles using Thermofax Screens’
Great evening with Wendi showing us some great techniques for using Thermofax screens to make your own unique fabric. A really fascinating talk which many members are keen to pursue as a workshop.

Member Led Workshop with Sarah Gravestock
‘Indian Lady’
A fun day with an easy pattern - we learned how to applique using small pieces of fabric on parchment paper before appliquéing to your background piece. Silks, coloured threads, beads and sequins together with stamping made for an enjoyable day.

Hathaway Christmas Cracker
A pot luck supper for all members of pizza and salad as last year. Game will be led by Katie together with her friend and we shall exhibit the Challenge - ‘A Perfect Day”
